Aromatherapy Recipe to Scent your Day

Here is my aromatherapy recipe for using essential oils throughout the day. Each oil has it’s own aroma and is used for a certain purpose. Which oil/s you choose will be dependant on what is needed at the time. Perhaps you need the essential oil to promote your feelings – for it to be invigorating, relaxing, uplifting or calming. Add these ingredients for your aromatherapy recipe or essential oil recipe to harmonise your mind and body the entire day long.

  • To freshen your wake up. Fragrances to balance and refresh that may be smelled or used in the shower when waking up include citrus oils such as orange, tangerine, lemon, lime, bergamot as well as eucalyptus.
  • To help calm your commute. The commute can be chaotic so dot a few drops of lavender oil on the dash or maybe spray a lavender mist inside the car to energise your mood. If you need to stimulate your concentration, try some rosemary.
  • At work. Burning geranium in a vaporizer will help with anxiety, and promote a peaceful sensation. For energizing, try peppermint, with rosemary to assist with concentration and frankincense to enhance creativity.

  • Chasing away negative emotions. A disagreement with a work colleague or a loved one could require a few drops of pine essential oil on a tissue. Breathe in the aroma and the air will be quieter. This oil is a good choice to promote forgiveness and fairness.
  • The mid afternoon slump. It is usually this time of day when blood sugars plummet and we need an instant lift. Try tea tree essential oil to invigorate.
  • The return home commute. To relax and refresh the trip home, use cinnamon oil.
  • Home Sweet Home. The scent of rose oil is beautiful for a ‘welcome home’ smell. Either sprinkled in a bowl of potpourri or in a burner. Another welcoming scent is that of vanilla. What about a scented candle? Set the mood for further relaxing with your loved one.
  • Having trouble falling off to sleep? A bath soak with a few drops of lavender, chamomile and marjoram will have you relaxed and sleepy in no time.
