Our Skin Care Regime Needs to Adjust for Ageing

Skin care for women 40 yrs plus. Skin care mid life.

Skin care must be on the top of our list in the beauty stakes! And we need to adust our beauty skin care for ageing regime as our skin matures.

skin care ageing 1We all know that the ageing process impacts on the skins' ability to produce collagen when we reach our 40's. The result? Sagging skin and a loss of radiance.

Initially we see the saggy eyelids followed by facial lines, crows feet, vertical lines on the forehead and the deepening of the marionette lines running from the corner of the nose to the mouth.

Fortunately for some, their genes will allow them to maintain smoother skin for a few more years, but factors that we can control such as exposure to the sun, smoking and diet should be heeded in order to keep our skin in the best possible condition.

As our skin matures, it is important to keep it well hydrated. Regular use of a gentle exfoliation product and moisturising masks will slough of dead skin and promote a natural glow. I ensure using an eye cream both in the morning and at night, along with a highly moisturising face cream. Serums are excellent to provide the extra 'lift' and tightening of the skin.

Lip balms greatly assist in keeping our lips luscious and moist so I make sure that I carry one with me at all times for touch up when I feel the urge to 'lick'.

Your skin care regime should always include a broad spectrum SPF30+ to avoid the damage from the UV rays of the sun. This will remarkably slow down the ageing process to your skin and complement your beauty skin care regime.

skin care ageing 2A reminder that the skin is the largest organ we have, so we have to take care of the entire surface of the body. Highly moisturising body creams not only ensure we hydrate our skin but also soothe away the senses when fragranced with essential oils such as lavendar or bergamot. Not only does our skin feel delicious, but smells delicious too!

And finally, to maintain the hydration of our skin, we must drink plenty of fluids. Eight glasses of water each day will ward off the effects of dehydration. Adding oily fish such as mackeral and salmon into your diet will increase the omega-3 fatty acids which not only aid in the condition of our skin, but also assists in maintaining a healthy heart and brain.
