To Glow or Not to Glow - Safe Tanning for Beauty

To glow or not to glow is the question. I know that I am one who prefers a little colour on my skin, and I feel slimmer when my skin is not so lily white.

Despite health warnings issued of the risks, many women still visit their beauty salons and spas and lie for 20 minutes or so in a solarium, soaking up the artificial rays.

Today we have options with many products on the market to maintain the sun-kissed glow. These 'fake' tans have improved considerably from the ones of years ago which where so orange and stained our garments. It used to be so obvious we had applied an artificial tanning product, not only because of the colour but also due to the odious smell.

We are now able to purchase fake tanning products which not only look natural in colour but also last for up to two weeks. These new tanning lotions are full of moisturiser and sweeter scents and do not stain as before. Coming in many different shades, fake tans are made to suit fairer skin, and also the bronzed look. Many also contain SP factors to allow them to be used when out in the sun.

These fake tans can be applied directly from a can, bottle or tube at home which is very convenient. Some salons also offered a spray variety which is sprayed from an airgun and provides an evenly applied coverage. The results are usually fanatastic.

A useful tip is to use gloves when applying tanning lotions by hand to avoid the creams getting underneath your fingernails.

A healthy glow is obtainable safely these days. Avoid the direct UV rays of the sun as the risk of damage to our skin far outweighs the benefits of a natural tan. If you still prefer to use a solarium, be careful and check the types of rays the machines elements produce.

Stay happy, healthy and shine with a bronzed glow - from a bottle!
