What is emotional health?
Mental balance or mental wellness is the actual state of mind of an individual. Every person has a different state of mind, which comprises varying degrees of both mental illness and mental wellness. An assortment of external factors may trigger changes in one's balance of emotional health, and a person's reaction will invariably differ to the trigger or situation presented to them.
An individual's biological make-up, developing since birth, will form the base their current emotional health and mental balance, which can either be upset and create a feeling of mental illness, or gratified resulting in a state of mental wellness.
A situation that may trigger an imbalance or mental 'depression, stress, or anxiety' in one person may have the completely opposite result with another, who is actually excited or happy (mental wellness).
We just need to find the harmony and mental balance in our lives. Unfortunately as we age and our degree of memory and mental awareness declines, we should strive to create mental stimulation to maintain a healthy mental balance.
What is emotional health?Mental wellness or emotional health equates to the balance of psychological and emotional well being, and the ability to respond positively to the triggers or challenges that may be thrown upon you along life's journey.It is how an individual faces up to these challenges that can affect the harmony or balance in our mental state.
Emotional health (Mental wellness) combined with physical wellness will form the basis of a person's personality. We could be super fit, athletic, wealthy and successful in many aspects of our lives, but if we suffer an imbalance in our mental wellness, we would not feel total wellness. Various aspects of psychological and emotional wellness will be covered on further pages i.e. stress, depression, low self esteem and others which will allow you to further understand their symptoms, consequences and how we can manage and control and hopefully reverse many of the negative conditions.
The following factors will guide you on your journey to mental wellness: - Self Affirmations - Recognising our personal strengths and weaknesses, and appreciating our unique assets
- Resilience - How we can recover and inevitably improve from triggers that may create imbalance in our mental harmony
- Compromise - Our ability to negotiate with others, accepting when we can change and perhaps learn and grow from them
- Education - To actually see and listen to those around us, and understand that we can still grow mentally and emotionally
- Exercise - The brain requires exercise along with our bodies, with constant stimulation and communication
