Yes, wearing high heels can wreak havoc for your feet.

Remember that as we age, and become women 40 yrs plus, our feet change shape. The may become wider, longer, flatter or even thinner. The years of placing weight on our feet also causes us to lose much of the padding underneath the heel and forefoot, as well as flattening our foot arches.
Unfortunately, two important reasons that women have problems with their feet is vanity (the wearing of high heels) and of course, age.
Do suffer from any of symptoms of sore feet?
Here are a few exercises and suggestions to ease those tired and sore feet and legs after a long day of wearing those fabulously stylish shoes.
AIM: Strengthen and elongate the calf muscles and gently stretch the Achilles Tendons.
Stand on a step, balancing on the balls of your feet. Rise up and lower slowly, extending your heels down lower than the step. Gently stretch those calf muscles and achilles tendons. Either lower one foot at a time, or both together. Hold the stretch for 5-10 secs then repeat. Do 10 sets.
AIM: Strengthen the muscles on the underneath of the foot
Perform toe scrunches. Pland a hand towel or piece of cloth on the floor in front of you. Begin at the edge closest to you. Place your toes on the edge of the towel or cloth and scrunch your toes, grabbing the cloth, then release. Continue until you have 'beckoned'the towel/cloth towards you, using the toe scrunches only. No cheating!
Alter the size and shape of your heel regularly to avoid stressing the exact same part of your feet each day. A good idea is also to alternate between a walking shoe for part of your day.
Pamper your feet by soaking them in a tub of warm water, adding a few essential oils e.g. peppermint. Gently massage the feet to stimulate the circulation.

Wearing high heels can affect women 40 yrs plus in more ways than simply suffering tired, sore feet. Ailments such as the forming of callouses, heel pain, ingrown toenails, bunions, swelling in the joint of the big toe, neuromas or nerve pain spreading into the toes, hammertoes or the permanent bend in the joint of a toe. Injuries can also develop into stress fractures.
Therefore, it is good to remember, that as we age to women 40 yrs plus, sore feet can be remedied by placing sensibility above vanity.
Alternate wearing those high heels with shoes that are more comfortable, perform exercises to elongate the calf muscles and achilles tendons and rest/soak the feet to allow them to relax. Elevating the feet at the end of the day is also a great idea.
